Hotel ILUNION Barcelona

This hotel is commits to sustainability and accessibility. They have a wonderful program that you can see throughout your stay at the hotel around being sustainable, from compostable toothbrushes to creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities. I stayed here for five nights. Luis, who works in the restaurant and bar area at night, took care of me so well. Every night I would return to the hotel after being at a conference and client dinners, exhausted, He was friendly - remembered my order of large water and a glass of red wine. As soon as he saw me, he would have it ready for me along with some delicious chocolate. I truly felt like a VIP. They also had a fantastic breakfast and there is a wonderful art museum around the corner called IDEAL which has inspiring art installations.

Nice design of the lobby and other common areas masks that the hotel is quite old and tacky (stains on carpets etc). Room not very clean (found hair in bathroom). My room had a view of a terrace-like area which was very dirty (see picture, even underwear is lying there). Also service not great. Eg when I asked for the water urn to be refilled in the lobby I was told this was not possible and I should go and buy water at the bar. Also walls were very thin. Was woken up by people talking in the hallway at 5.50am and I could even hear an alarm ringing in the next room. Another strange thing is that you need a card to enter the hotel (or ring the bell at the reception). The area seems mostly residential. It is far from the centre but the beaches are close.

The hotel is beautifully designed and provides a luxury feeling when you come inside, however when I compare the money I paid and what I got, I would say a 3 star rating in google would be good enough. I think you might get better service during the off season or none-holiday time, as the number staff at reception during the Easter holidays was not enough ( there was always line to talk to the receptionist)

We stayed at Ilunion for 5 nights and really enjoyed our time there. Hotel’s lobby looks really nice and modern. Rooms are fine too, not as modern as the lobby, but we can’t complain - we had everything we needed and more. Great terrace with nice view! Nice gym with basic equipment. Breakfasts - very good quality, maybe would be nice to have more coffee options and some more variety of vegetarian / pescatarian menu but overall - everyone will be able to choose something from what is available :) Location - close to the beach, also with shops and some really nice restaurants nearby (Colom ❤️) bus and metro station are close too. Finally - you can leave your luggage before checking in and after checking out - super convenient!
