The impact of this hotel

Hotel Hacienda Guachipelín, founded in 1985, stands on José Tomás Batalla's ranch land near Rincon de la Vieja Volcano - a UNESCO World Heritage Sit. Inspiration for the hotel began when tourists coming from Liberia would arrive late to the ranch, asking if they could stay overnight to visit the national park and volcano the next day. The family began prepared a few guest rooms, but soon, the flood gates opened and it was clear that more infrastructure was needed. Finally, in 1985, Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin officially opened. Recognized for conservation efforts, the hotel holds the third level of the Certification for Sustainable Tourism program by the Costa Rican Tourism Board.

Stayed in the hotel for one night. We booked the superior room with mountain view. The room was very clean, well-lit and had all the amenities needed. The view was ok as we were on the ground floor under a small hill. The grounds were nice and the hot ponds/hot springs with the volcanic mud bath was really nice. It was included with the stay, and you can spend as much time as you want. We went there twice. Once the day we arrived and once before we checked out. We also went saw the waterfalls, and they were amazing. A lot of variety for breakfast which was included. We also had dinner there, and the food was over all good. We had a great time at the hotel even though the drive to hot springs and waterfalls was like 15 minutes on bumpy road. Having car rental definitely made it easier for us to go see the various attractions in the resort.

Great location with a lot to see and do. We spent two days there but could have spent another day or two checking things out. We spent our time hiking and checking out the hot springs. Waterfalls were beautiful and hot springs were really nice. Felt very safe staying here and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Great place, friendly staff and good food. Many beautiful trails in the surrounding with lots of waterfalls. There's the possibility of doing many different experiences here. Included in the staying also the hot water pools which are just amazing. The hotel itself is very pretty and well kept, my favorite part was the area with fireplaces where to relax with a delicious cocktail after a day of exploring.

I stayed here in November 2021 and forgot to write a review of this lovely place. I came for my birthday and was greeted with a lovely spread on the bed. The extra touch meant everything to me! The food and drinks were delicious and cheap. There are many activities on site! I did the massage, yoga, and zip lining mud bath and river tubing! It was so much fun. I wish I had more time to experience more but the time I had was lovely! Everyone was nice and accommodating. I was a solo traveler and never felt like I was in danger. I highly recommend!
