Hotel D Basel

We spent 2 nights at this hotel in late Nov 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a smaller contemporary, boutique style with old world charm. It’s super clean, has a wonderful variety of healthy items in the breakfast buffet and is very close to the train station, Christmas Market and many excellent restaurants. But what really puts this hotel in the 5 plus star quality, is the staff. They are super friendly and very helpful. We give a special shout out to Carole on the front desk who went way above & beyond in helping us to retrieve our lost baggage. We would highly recommend this hotel. Maureen & Paul Wells

What a lovely hotel, Carole at the front desk was very nice and helpful and always had a smile! The breakfast is a really nice mix of continental and eggs,sausage,bacon with freshly made coffee brewing! Very clean room with a very comfortable bed!

Was here for 11 days for a business trip. The location of the hotel is prime, about 5 train stops to the Novartis campus and about 11 bus stops to Roche, within walking distance to everything downtown. The rooms are not huge but spacious enough, especially there is a desk in the room, good for us who want to work a night continueing our saga in the daytime. The service crew, especially the front desk, are always friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is safe as most of the town. However, next door is the hospital so lots of ambulance activities.

The hotel printed my name wrong on the welcome note. That's not a terrible thing, but the really sad part was unclean bed linens with hair of various lengths. I was on a business visit with a very tight agenda so I, unfortunately, had neither the time nor energy to ask for a change of the linens. The breakfast was sad with very basic options. One day they had a good variety of fruit, next day, half of them missing.
