Catalonia Goya

The impact of this hotel

Catalonia Hotels & Resorts was founded by the Vallet brothers, with its first hotel opening in 1983. Since then they have become one of the largest hotel chains in Spain and have set up 74 establishments in more than 20 different destinations. Occupying hotel space in some of the world’s most spectacular locations has led the family chain to take on a commitment to sustainable tourism and care for the people who run them. Also acknowledged for inclusive tourism, they eliminate barriers for people with disabilities. Partnering with FUNDEMAR, they initiated the "Vivero Coralino" project in the Caribbean, aiming to recover corals. This coral nursery has contributed over 1,500 meters of live coral, establishing itself as a highly reproductive site. Guests can now explore an underwater museum featuring statues immersed in Bayahíbe's seabed, promoting awareness of marine conservation.

Roberto and his staff were amazing. Roberto is smiley, professional, very helpful, lots of local tips and knowledge. All-in-all the perfect location at a very friendly hotel. Roberto, thank you (and Andre Rieu was amazing.) Ruthie & David

Very disappointed from our 5 days stay: - gloomy room, the bath sink was not working, the shower gel in the room was not refilled, there was only 1 bath towel per person (not even 1 bathrobe). - there was not even a courtesy bottle of water ! (The minibar had small bottles of Spanish water at 2,25€ for 300ml) - we booked a room double occupancy for a married couple and they provided 2 beds with separate sheets (!). And when we asked to have the beds joined, the answer was « we can’t do this for all the rooms »… - the staff was gentle but not competent (I asked for a terrace where we can smoke a cigar, they answered us that the hotel don’t have a terrace and that we will need to smoke outside on the sidewalk… only to discover 2 days later that there are 2 terraces in the hotel…). Receptionnists are not very helpful/efficient. - the reception is ridiculously small, in a doorway in front of stairs and 1 elevator. - the only upside is the central location of the hotel (hence the 2nd star), but to be honest, it is not enough to justify a stay there. Honestly, to be avoided if you want to stay more than 1 night

Clean rooms, friendly stuff and amazing breakfast - a must if you’re staying here. The locations is amazing, you can basically walk everywhere. And if you prefer public transport, metro is just outside the main entrance.

The hotel is located in a convenient location. Friendly staff, clean rooms, reasonable price (try to book in advance to save some cash). The only negative point is the noise from the cleaning staff (they speak very loud since 7:00 am and do not consider that the guests want to sleep and not be disturbed early morning). Recommended.
