My husband and I booked three nights at the Clarence Hotel at the tail end of our 18 day Irish vacation. I had reviewed the location and knew ahead of time that we would be centrally located and in a busy area of the city. What I did not expect (or appreciate) was the high volume of noise that was transferred to our room. The loud thrumming of music in our room was an annoyance until the wee hours of the morning. I could have complained at the start of our stay and asked if there was a quieter room - but being exhausted from travel I decided to stick it out. In hindsight, I should have talked to management about the sound and asked if there was something to be done. Because of this decision on my part, a lovely vacation ended on a sour note. The hotel is not inexpensive and I leave this review to advise anyone who is sound sensitive to think twice about staying here, or in the Temple Bar area. The hotel is in a great location for walking and there is quite a lot to do in the area. We especially enjoyed the Giddy Dolphin pub. The room, although not very large, is clean and the bed comfortable. Our interaction with the front desk staff has been reasonable. If it wasn’t for the noise, I would give this hotel a higher score.

As you probably already know, The Clarence is owned by Bono (or his company) and this is what makes it special. Besides that, be extra careful. The rooms located at upper floors have NOT been renovated for years. Some of these rooms may be large, but the bed is very tired (way too soft and wavy), there is a smell in the bathroom, the furniture is old and old fashioned. Unacceptable! The price asked for such a room (around €500!!) is way too high regarding the equipment and services provided. It is simply not worth it. There are other hotels in Dublin, some of them are a lot cheaper that the Clarence and with new beds, nice decoration and super clean, with the same location near Temple Bar. Don't make the same mistake as us.

Beautiful hotel in a great location with excellent staff. This was my first time in Ireland yet I felt right at home at The Clarence. The room as well appointed with full bath and very comfortable bed. The staff, Jeff and Wellington, were amazing and helped me get familiar with the city. The bar in front is gorgeous and the breakfast restaurant in back is outstanding This hotel is in the heart of the action but feels like a quaint refuge from the bustle. I look forward to staying here again!

One of the worst hotels for us to be honest. The rooms are super noisy/loud anyways. But the hotel got a party going on until 3:00 AM that leaves your room shaking. Best part is when it’s over everyone is going to bad (super drunk & loud). Guess it’s a dope hotel if you take part in that event 😂😂. But an absolutely no-go if you need to have good rest!
