In 1982, Giovanna Holbrook, former president of Selva Verde, successfully prevented the destruction of 500 acres of Costa Rican primary and secondary rainforest. With the help of Holbrook and her team, Selva Verde became a pioneer in eco-tourism and today, is on a mission to conserve the rainforest and all its inhabitants. The lodge practices environmental preservation through composting, solar panels, biodegradable products, air-drying laundry, and eliminating single-use plastics. Their Green Classroom Program educates children on environmental responsibility and ecosystem protection

Selva Verde was an incredible lodge, comfortable, clean and you felt part of nature. The staff was so kind and lovely. The grounds are very natural and well kept. Great views of the river and rainforest. No shortage of wildlife either, great birdwatching and other animal sightings. I attended a retreat here and it was the perfect space. I would absolutely go back.

Amazing place. Wildlife is everywhere. In the area we did nature hikes, boat rides, and whitewater rafting, all arranged at front desk. This was one of highlights of trip and not too touristy. Food is very good at lodge

Beautiful retreat-style resort. Plenty to do, all in line with the rainforest. Only stayed one night but could have easily stayed a week

Stunning surroundings. Nice welcome. And the Pizza pasta restaurant was excellent in a beauutful location. Loved to have stopped another night.
