1909 reviewsIn 2006, Marten Dresen, founder of the Good Hotel, was traveling through Guatemala when he met Mirna, a girl with no shoes, and decided to buy her a pair of Converse trainers. This kicked off a chain reaction that led to the Good Hotel - a floating social enterprise set right in the heart of London’s Docklands. Good Hotel is a social business, which means 100% of its profits go towards the Good Global Foundation, which supports social causes all over the world. One such cause is Niños de Guatemala, a foundation that was co-founded in 2007 by Marten Dresen, providing underprivileged children with the education they would otherwise be deprived of. The organization currently runs two primary schools and a secondary school, housing over 600 local children.
The Good Hotel in London is committed to providing long-term unemployed people with the opportunity to build a career in the hospitality industry. In 2015 the Good Training Program was born in collaboration with Newham Workplace and the Borough Council of Newham. It offers a bespoke hospitality training course that includes three months of classroom study and paid work experience, after which every student has the chance to work full-time at the Good Hotel or with one of their chosen partners. The program successfully trains around 60 residents per year who would otherwise be out of employment.

We had low expectations because of the hotel name. Any place that has to call themselves good must be hiding something! The hotel is very good, food is great and the ethical attitude is refreshing. The rooms are small but comfortable, well maintained. They are however very basic and do not include a TV which is unusual, they could also do with more power sockets. We would definitely use again.

You need to remember that this is not your regular bricks and mortar hotel. It is a boat, and as such it has cabins and not rooms. Entering your 'room' you might get a shock at the 'small but perfectly formed' area in front of you. The room was clean, modern and you could say attractive. It really had everything that you might need for a short stay. It was obvious that every technique in the book was being employed to make good and clever use of the space. And, by-and-large, it all worked . The reception, bar, and breakfast areas where all very attractive and pleasant locations to be in, and with views over the river. The breakfast was also excellent, with a large and appetising selection. The location is excellent, with the City Airport and public transport within walking distance. Would I use it again? Without doubt I would.

All in all the hotel was quite nice. Looked good, staff were very helpful and the price was good. Room itself was a little basic and the hotel facilities were limited. We could definitely hear loud rooms around us but they were not too much of an issue. Would definitely stay again if I need to be on the East side of London

The hotel’s cozy ambiance and friendly staff created a welcoming atmosphere. The location was convenient, and the check-in process was efficient. However, I must mention that the bathrooms were disappointingly small. Another aspect that fell short of expectations was service in the bar which took so long when they eventually got to me I was told it had closed which was a disappointing and rather abrupt, early end to evening.
